On The Ghan (Australian luxury tourist train) journey from Adelaide to Darwin, there are three opportunities to enjoy some off-train activities.
The first is at Marla, where in the pre-dawn darkness, passengers are invited to step down and enjoy breakfast snacks and hot drinks while watching the sun rise over the outback. This video focuses on the selections we made in late May 2019 on the other two opportunities – excursions around Alice Springs and Katherine. At Alice Springs, we took the Simpson’s Gap tour. The next day, just outside Katherine, we toured the Nitmiluk Gorge with interpretation of ancient Aboriginal cliff paintings. Read more in our posts:
