Welcome to Our e-Table

Welcome to our e-Table and thanks for stopping by. Those of you who have been around our dining table know we enjoy your company with a glass of wine and good food, that we take the time and joy to prepare. However, with friends from near and far this is not easily achievable.

This blog, our virtual electronic table, is to keep in touch with family and friends scattered around the world, and allow a broader audience to join the conversation. This is a hobby blog about our experiences. Links to, or reviews of, commercial sites are for information only.

We (Diana & Alex) are second-timers who rebooted our lives in our early 50s, starting again with empty baskets and determined to make it somehow to retirement one faraway day, having only our competencies, our love and each other’s support. Then, nine years after having a setback in the health department, we sat at our dining table, talked it through (it had been brewing for the nine years, but we hadn’t had the means) and a decision to retire was born. We decided to travel as much as we could on our modest budget without dramatic changes in lifestyle, since we’d both had enough drama in our past lives.

We are second-timers in citizenship too. Canada is where the winding roads brought us at different points of our lives: thus, we are Canadians by destiny and choice, and Europeans by birth and nature. Alex’s motherland is England and Diana’s, Bulgaria.

We write about our travels, current and past, in space and time.  The rusty rails often take us down our memory lanes, where present and past meet as friendly strangers. As life is a journey, we write about it too.

So here, we invite you to join us at our e-Table. Pour a glass of your favorite drink and let the conversation begin. Cheers!

If you are new to the site, you can read about us in Got Rhythm. Our travelogue Along Rusty Rails features our travel stories, grouped by categories and storylines. Non-travel stories are in Table Talk and this post touches on our travel style.

  1. Looking forward to following your adventures! I always love your photos and anecdotes. The only downside to your e-table is that I don’t get to actually enjoy your food! 😉
