I’ve got rhythm,
… just not always.
This is the place we reserve for revealing more about us over time.
(Why Got Rhythm – this will come later)
In addition to our travel stories, we intend to write about our imperfect health and how we handle it, our life together as second-timers and how we’ve got here, our lean budget and why we decided to trigger a retirement sooner rather than later. Who knows where the rusty rails will take us tomorrow?
Goals and Objectives
This space is left intentionally blank for the sake of Alex’s stress management 😉
About
We are putting goals and objectives, schedules and structures, processes and controls behind us together with our professional lives.
We would like to use this space as a way of continuing our chats around the table. Hence the name we’ve chosen for this blog. We encourage you to participate in the conversation.
Brief Intro
We are retired professionals. Alex is a professional accountant who in the latter part of his career worked as a management consultant for several major banks. Diana is a mathematician who, as a project management professional, worked for many years in IT project/program management.
Diana’s hobby during the years has been writing (nothing public until now). Her notes are scattered around the house hidden in notebooks, agendas, and even on the back of a bill or a napkin. And nowadays in many files chaotically hidden in folders across all our technology. Maybe one day she’ll find the energy to go back in time and organize them all.
Alex’s hobby has been photography, but his interest has been dormant for several years (life intervened). He’s now busy updating his knowledge from the analog era to the opportunities available in the digital world. The house is full of photo albums and boxes of old photos and nowadays the photos occupy every space of our technology: there are scattered on disk drives, backup drives, USB keys, you name it. At least the old printed ones are easy to see and show offline.
Diana loves photography too, but is more interested in capturing a moment she sees with her point and click camera or phone than spending time and thinking about angles, effects, light, etc.
The roles are not completely segregated. Alex writes occasionally and Diana often takes more photos than Alex. And being a natural organizer, she also spends more time organizing them. Alex, being a native English speaker, spends time editing Diana’s writing. English is Diana’s fourth language in order of learning. These days it is promoted to second language, and is the language used at home.
Canada is where the winding roads brought us at different points of our lives: thus, we are Canadians by destiny and choice, and Europeans by birth and nature. Alex’s motherland is England and Diana’s is Bulgaria.
